705 leads BICB west at Downey on Wednesday morning (27-Dec-2006) By: NDHolmes

One of the new leasers - GMTX 2668 - still stored at Iowa City, IA By: NDHolmes
The other lease unit - GMTX 2672 By: NDHolmes
BICB continues west of Iowa City with 626 and 628 on the head end By: NDHolmes

One of IAIS's latest additions is this remote control switch at East Yocum. Normally it just sits there red, as here. By: NDHolmes
When a train approaches, they key up the radio and enter a code sequence. The switch responds over the radio, reporting its alignment, and also clears the signal heads - all of them go green, no matter which way the switch is lined. By: NDHolmes
The signal also does not immediately drop to red when something enters the OS. It dropped back after about half the train had passed. By: NDHolmes
707 and 701 sit in Rock Island with a returning empty coal train. The crew's on board, so what are we waiting for? By: NDHolmes
Oh, that's what we're waiting on... It's the BNSF local job, lead by ex-ATSF B23-7 4234 By: NDHolmes
4234 comes off the single track section through Moline and passes the awaiting coal job By: NDHolmes
With the BNSF job and an accompanying hyrail off the track, 707 and empty head on east out of the yard. By: NDHolmes
Here's the empty in downtown Moline, passing under the bridge to Arsenal Island. By: NDHolmes
And the oldest diesel of the day goes to the leader of the IC&E local - GP9 #103. Here, the local waits to use the single track at East Moline By: NDHolmes
At East Moline, the line splits back into three - the IC&E branch as well as the BNSF and IAIS mains toward Colona By: NDHolmes
The S-curve is a result of the IAIS and BNSF lines being combined through Moline several years back. The IAIS now jogs over onto the former BNSF main. By: NDHolmes
At Colona, our coal empty gets delayed again, as a northbound BNSF comes through the Colona interlocking. In the lead are BNSF SD40-2s 6786 and 6854. By: NDHolmes
IAIS 707 waits on the northbound, just short of Illinois 2 at Colona. By: NDHolmes
With BNSF 6786 and train clear of the junction, 707/701 get a light through the crossover By: NDHolmes
About halfway between Colona and Geneseo, in the tree tunnel along the Hennepin Canal. By: NDHolmes
Crossing a grassy ditch, just outside Geneseo By: NDHolmes
Skipping Geneseo (mainly because the train was ahead of me...), the next stop was Atkinson By: NDHolmes
A wider shot with the Atkinson water tower in the background By: NDHolmes
707 splits the older grade crossing signals at Annawan By: NDHolmes
And one final shot with the old Annawan elevator in the background By: NDHolmes
On the way back out to my parents' house, I found CBBI sitting at Walcott, awaiting a new warrant. Note that 601 is in the lead. 601 may not be on the road much longer, as it's supposed to become the mother for the slug being created out of 466. By: NDHolmes
