This weekend I finished scratchbuilding the IAIS's Bluffs yard diesel pad air compressor shack, and also got photos of the scratched MOW shed I finished painting and weathering last week. Both are just temporarily set in place on the layout pending completion of the surrounding scenery.

Model view looking SW. Model was scratchbuilt from styrene, with flood lamps from Details West #455 light poles and window caging from Scale Scenics #3500 aluminum micro mesh. By: Joe Atkinson

The window that's fallen out of its frame on the left is a modified Grandt Line part, with window track arms from styrene. By: Joe Atkinson

Prototype view looking north, 3/7/2004. I'm not sure if the IAIS or predecessor RI modified the air compressor shack for the new lines running into the south end, but whoever did it didn't score points for neatness. ;-) By: Joe Atkinson

Looking north at the model. The vertical tank was cut from the end of a Bic pen. On the west side, the electrical meter was a Scale Structures part (#2332) and the doors were scratchbuilt. By: Joe Atkinson

Prototype photo of the Bluffs MOW shed. Unfortunately, I didn't have room to model the grounded ex-Chessie PS-1 behind it. By: Joe Atkinson

Completed MOW shed that I shared in-progress photos of a couple weeks ago. By: Joe Atkinson

My biggest accomplishment of the week: I took up running 10 days ago with my 21-year-old son to help him prepare for a half-marathon in September, and we ran our first 5K race this morning. I didn't set any records, but I made it without walking, with an official net time of 38:21. 400th place out of 488 is nothing to write home about, but it felt good. Not sure my 46-year-old knees are up for that half-marathon. :-) By: Joe Atkinson
