The photos show the first model I built of IAIS 603. I later foolishly sold it, and regretted doing so, but James McNab came to my assistance and gave me the shell off his 603, since he was using the drive for his model of IAIS 708. Thanks again James!
I'm currently building my second 603 using the shell James provided, but as you might guess, it's virtually identical to this one, so I'm not bothering with more photos.
IAIS GP38 603, a factory-painted Atlas unit with added details, lengthened dynamic brake blister, shortened fuel tank and paper air filter box, and weathering. Since these photos were taken, I've clipped the trip pins from all my Kadee couplers. By: Joe Atkinson

Rear view of 603 showing new pilot plate, shortened 3000g fuel tank and paper air filter and lengthened dynamic brake blister with a Cannon #1805 DB access door. Also visible are the Cannon #1704 radiator fans, #1853 DB fan, fuel tank details, Detail Associates #2211 coupler cut bars, DA #1022 ditch lights with MV #600 lenses, Details West #294 MU hoses and #139 air filter set, as well as the "Work Safely" decals in the stepwell, from the Oddballs Decals IAIS diesel set. Shot of cab roof showing new horn, EOT and radio antenna, vent, Southern-style cab shades, and shortened paper air filter box with added lift rings. I also replaced the Atlas windshield wipers with aftermarket parts.
Thanks to Larry Puckett for reminding me that the cab shades were Hi-Tech Details #6017. By: Joe Atkinson

603's new Cannon fans. I also touched up the grab irons to represent their worn yellow safety striping. By: Joe Atkinson

Atlas mistakenly added the red/yellow stripe to the top of 603's electrical cabinet air filter box (ECAFB) behind the cab, but a quick touch-up with Scalecoat 2 black corrected that. Other than the 700-series GP38-2s, I believe 603 is the only IAIS unit to have an all-black ECAFB. By: Joe Atkinson
