This model has worn a number of hats on the layout. It started off as LLPX 2809 in a custom-mixed blue that I was never 100% happy with (see "First attempt" folder). Later, I stripped and repainted it in Testors #1110/1210 blue. A few months after that, I decided to do away with or retire everything on the layout that didn't see action on the West End during my era. 2809 was redetailed and renumbered to 2802, since the 2809 didn't come to the West End until October 2005.

After buying another LLPX SD38-2 from Dan Risdon and being much happier with his choice of blue (Testors #1110 Blue), I decided to strip and repaint/decal/weather the 2809. Here's the latest iteration. By: Joe Atkinson

LLPX 2809, still missing jewels for the ditch lights and rear Gyralight, poses with the 2805. I bought the latter model from Dan Risdon, renumbering it, altering a few details, and adding more weathering to represent the 2805. By: Joe Atkinson
